Plano pest control

We Texas's top experts in rodent control. We are not a typical Plano rat removal or pest control company. We don't treat rats or mice like insects, because they are not - they are mammals! You can't just use poison to get rid of them, like you can with insects. Unlike most Plano pest control, we focus on complete and permanent solutions. We don't just use poison every month. We solve your rodent problem forever, by following these steps:

  • Inspect the entire house, ground to roof, and the attic
  • Seal shut all entry areas, no matter how small, with steel
  • Set a dozen or more rat or mouse traps in the house and attic
  • Remove all rodents as they are caught and monitor for activity
  • Once there is no more activity and no more caught, we're done
  • When necessary, we clean rodent droppings, replace insulation, and repair chewed electric wires

Plano Rodent Removal Tip:

Steps to make a rat trap
Rats constitute a serious menace when they infest human dwellings. They cause structural damage to properties. The critters also spread diseases, including rat-bite fever and hantavirus. Getting rats off of your property should be a top priority after confirming an infestation. Even if you suspect an infestation, you should also work towards effective measures of keeping your property critter-free. Trapping is an effective measure of getting rid of rats. Ready-made traps are available in stores. You can also make your own traps.

In this article, we share the steps for making a rat trap.

Make a rat trap with recycled water bottles
This rat trap is for live captures. Capture the critters and relocate them to a new home very far away from your property.

Materials needed: Scissors, craft knife, tape, and soda or water bottle of 1.25-liter volume.

Start by cutting off the neck of the bottle. Cut the bottle at about 1 inch from the threaded section.

Afterward, make another cut about two inches away. You now have two large pieces of the bottle and one small piece. You will need the two larger pieces in making the trap.

Make spike-like cuts in the smaller of the two larger bottle pieces. The cuts should be about 1 inch long and should start from the narrower part of the bottle piece. The essence of the spike-like cuts is to stop the critters from jumping out of the trap after they have been caught.

rodent trappingPlace tape around the wider end of the piece with the spike. The tape will be opposite the spikes. The tape is for attaching the two pieces. Thus, you should leave some part of the tape exposed for this purpose.

Put the smaller piece into the bigger piece like a funnel. Fold the tape to secure both bottle pieces as a unit. Ensure that the entire unit is strongly secured.

You have now made a trap that you can place around your home to trap the critters. Place the trap along the line of activity of the rats on your property. You can apply baits that will attract the critters. Peanut butter is an effective bait for capturing rats.

This homemade trap is suitable for outdoor and indoor use. Remember that it is a live trap. Check it regularly, and relocate trapped critters as soon as you notice them. You need a proper relocation plan so that you do not torture the critters unnecessarily.

To remove the rats after capture, simply cut the tap and remove the funnel part of the trap. This trap is designed for the non-lethal capture of infesting critters. You can catch up to three rats with a trap made of a 1.25-liter bottle.

It is important to keep the critters away from your property by trapping and any other available and preferred method. You can use lethal traps too. Lethal traps are readily available in stores. Types of lethal traps include the snap trap and the spring trap. They kill the rats immediately after they are trapped subjecting them to minimal torture.

Trapping caters to an active infestation. To prevent future infestations, use repellents and effect habitat modification. Repellents and habitat modification help to make a property unappealing to the critters. Rats are attracted to properties with available sources of food and shelter. Eliminate all possible sources of food and shelter, and the critters will find your property unappealing and uninteresting.

Rats are quite clever and will work to elongate their stay on your property. Remove the critters on your property and apply measures to ensure that they cannot return. Rats are some of the commonest and most difficult critters that infest human dwellings. It is important to have a clear course of action in keeping the critters away from your property.
